HomeExclusives Tue 19 November 2024 18:00, UKWest Ham are unlikely to pursue a deal to sign Brighton wing-back Tariq Lamptey, according to the club's former senior scout.
Mick Brown, who worked at the London Stadium until leaving alongside David Moyes in June and remains very well-connected there, exclusively told Football Insider that the Hammers are likely to prioritise other positions before looking at a new right-back.
He claimed the arrival of Aaron Wan-Bissaka in the summer, and continued presence of Vladimir Coufal in the side, has reduced the need for further additions in that position.
Football Insider revealed on 15 November that Lamptey has been on West Ham's radar for a while and they are still keeping tabs on his progress.
The 24-year-old right-sided wing-back is out of contract at Brighton at the end of the season, and sources say he is unlikely to extend his stay on the South Coast.
As a result, a number of Premier League clubs are monitoring his situation with the potential of landing him on a free transfer in mind.

West Ham plan for January as Tariq Lamptey's Brighton deal comes to an end Lamptey was touted as a bright prospect for the future when he joined Brighton from Chelsea in 2020, but persistent muscle injuries have hampered his development.
Brown, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment including over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, insisted that the right-back is still highly thought of, but West Ham are well-stocked in his position.
"Unless something drastic happens, I don't think they'll go for him," he told Football Insider.
"They're well-stocked at right-back with Wan-Bissaka and Coufal who, between the two of them, provide solid depth for the squad.
"I think it's unlikely they'll be looking at that position at the moment, at least not as a priority.
"From what I've heard, they'll look to strengthen other positions in their squad first.
"I don't doubt he's one they've been looking at, though, as I'm sure many clubs have been given his contract situation at Brighton.
"But I'd be surprised if they brought him in at this stage given what they've already got.
"In other news, West Ham get the green light to sack Julen Lopetegui.
