Newcastle United starting XI vs Fulham: Four changes - Alexander Isak boost & Sandro Tonali call
Source:Latest News

Alexander Isak starts for Newcastle United against Fulham - as Eddie Howe names four changes to his starting line-up.

Isak had been a doubt heading into the fixture after withdrawing at half-time in last Sunday's 2-1 win at Wolverhampton Wanderers because of swelling around his eye and a foot injury.

"I'll find out more today," Magpies' boss Eddie Howe on Friday.

"It was a strange one as the ball just grazed his eye and we felt at that time that was the main reason for him coming off the pitch.

"Then he had a knock to his foot as well so he's got a combination of the two.

We'll make a decision today.

"Anthony Gordon had been on standby to start as the central striker but is set to move over the right-hand side of attack instead with Harvey Barnes coming in on the left.

Barnes is one of four changes, replacing Jacob Murphy.

In midfield, Joe Willock makes his first Premier League start since Fulham in April with Sean Longstaff making way.

Sandro Tonali is named on the bench.

Meanwhile, Howe has rotated both his full-back with Kieran Trippier and Lloyd Kelly replacing Tino Livramento and Lewis Hall.

The Magpies will go top of the Premier League table if they win at Craven Cottage, a ground they are unbeaten on since 2016.
