'Massive' - Townsend thrilled by West Brom injury update ahead of clash v Ipswich
Source:Westbromnews

Conor Townsend has been left thrilled by the "massive" injury update at West Brom ahead of the Baggies return to Championship action against Ipswich.

Albion have started the season excellently and currently sit seventh in the playoff positions, despite Carlos Corberan having a limited squad available to him.

But the Spaniard is set to receive a boost with a number of big players returning to fitness.

Baggies defender Townsend admitted that the squad has been "threadbare" at times, however, he has shared an update on the fitness of Josh Maja, Daryl Dike and Adam Reach, with all three players possibly in contention to face Ipswich.

As quoted by the Express & Star (16 November) he said: "No (it's not a bad one to be in) - and we've had a lot of injuries as well.

The squad at one point was threadbare.

"We've still got Swifty to come back, Josh Maja, Daryl Dike, Reachy as well, people to come back, they're going to be nearly ready come Ipswich or the week after.

For them coming back is massive for us, it gives the squad a boost.

"We believe in what we've got in the dressing room, the manager and what he wants us to do.

We've seen lots of good things this season, things to improve on, we're OK where we are and hopefully, we can go on another run.

"Massive boostRemarkably, West Brom have managed to be as competitive as they have been so far this season, given the lack of resources available to Corberan at The Hawthorns and the massive injury issues his side have faced.

To lose arguably their two most prolific strikers in Maja and Dike, leaving the Baggies with only Brandon Thomas-Asante as a recognised striker, and top scorer Swift who has been one of the best players in the Championship let alone the Albion side.

Ipswich will provide West Brom with a stern test, with the Tractor Boys level on points with league leaders Leicester City, so Corberan will hope that he can call upon all three players when the Baggies return to action.

With those three players fit and firing, Albion go from playoff hopefuls to genuine promotion contenders so supporters will be hoping that once they return to fitness, they stay injury-free.

There are still plenty of games to be played and points to be won, having those players will be a huge boost for players and fans alike.
