Arne Slot has cast doubt over Trent Alexander-Arnold's involvment for Liverpool in the Carabao Cup versus Tottenham, after the defender asked to be substituted against Bournemouth.
The Reds came away 2-0 victors over the Cherries on Saturday afternoon but saw the out-of-contract full-back need to be replaced at the Vitality Stadium.
Alexander-Arnold had endured a difficult afternoon on the south coast before being replaced in the 70th minute.
The 26-year-old went down on the turf and required treatment before asking to replaced after feeling an issue.
Conor Bradley replaced the Real Madrid target, and will now likely start against Spurs on Thursday.
Liverpool will welcome the Lilywhites to Anfield for the second-leg of their Carabao Cup quarter-final, and will have to overcome a one-goal deficit.
Slot appears confident Alexander-Arnold will miss the clash, though whether it's due to the severity of the injury or to simply tread carefully over an issue remains to be seen.
"I cannot tell you exactly what it is and how bad it is of course because we are one hour after the game, but it's never a good sign if a player is asking for a substitution.
"This is not a fact but I would be surprised if he plays on Thursday, but let's hope he's back with us as soon as possible.
"Trent Alexander-Arnold receives treatment ( Image:"Exactly the game we expected," the ex-Feyenoord coach told Sky Sports.
"They're so intense and they keep running every second.
"I said before the game when we were 3-0 up at Anfield at half-time they kept on running.
We had to play on top of our abilities and we needed a bit of luck to win this game.
"They were constantly trying to do things.
I didn't think we controlled the game.
It is a good team and a good manager.
I am very happy that we could keep a clean sheet and score two goals.
