Struggling Allegri leaves Juventus with just two options

Juventus on the cusp of securing Champions League qualification but it may not be enough for Massimiliano Allegri to save his job in Turin.

The 56-year-old Italian tactician has never managed to shake off his doubters following his return to Turin in May 2021 and the discourse has grown increasingly toxic over the course of this season, especially after his side fell away from league leaders Inter.

Whilst Juventus have reached the Coppa Italia final with wins over Lazio, Frosinone and Salernitana, their Serie A form has been disastrous in recent months, managing just two wins in their last 13 league matches, putting Allegri in the crosshairs for the vast majority of supporters.

Allegri position Page 18 of today's Gazzetta dello Sport details how Allegri has left Juventus with two options ahead of the summer, when a meeting will take place with sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli to clarify his future.

The first is that he'll continue at the club for the final year of his contract, something that won't be too comforting for fans, and the second is that the Old Lady hire a new coach like Thiago Motta regardless, even if they have to continue paying the Italian tactician his lofty EUR7m net salary.

Allegri has already reportedly made it clear that he won't resign in the summer, forcing Juventus to either pay him off or leave him on their books. The feeling at the club is that there's a clear disconnect between the coach and the first team, but a final decision hasn't been made yet.
