Rangers may be forced to let go of Jack Butland only a few months after securing his services on a free transfer in the summer window.

The Sun reported on Saturday (14 October) that newly-appointed Birmingham manager Wayne Rooney has made an immediate move to tempt the Englishman to St Andrews.

The big-name Manchester United legend has made an instant transfer decision at his new club and seems to want to former Crystal Palace and Stoke City stopper.

Of all the signings made this summer, it can be argued that Butland has fit in perfectly and has arguably been the best of the lot.

There appeared to be no rustiness whatsoever and if anything, he's proving to be an upgrade on his predecessor Allan McGregor.

He has made some top drawer saves and hopefully, continues to improve under Philippe Clement's stewardship if he wants that.

That said, if his mind is made up and working under Rooney seems too good to turn down then there's a good chance that he takes that transfer.

Rangers, despite signing him for free, are well within their rights to demand a few millions as Butland is arguably at the peak of his career.

The SPFL outfit will need to replace him too, if he does leave, so a multi-million windfall may be on the cards in the event of a sale of the keeper.

In other Rangers news, Celtic have made a decision are set to respond to Gers' proposal amid 'Growing Discord' behind the scenes.
