Darren Bent backs Dominic Solanke to excel at Tottenham Tottenham Hotspur signed Dominic Solanke from Bournemouth this summer in a deal said to be worth PS65 million. His capture comes following a fantastic season in front of goal with the Cherries in 2023/24, for whom he scored 19 goals.

- Sky Sports News (@SkySportsNews) September 12, 2024 He has made a slow start to life at Spurs. He made his debut in the team's first league match against Leicester City but has been hampered with an injury since, which has limited his action. However, former Tottenham striker Darren Bent believes he will eventually succeed in north London.
The 40-year-old, who made 79 appearances for the Lilywhites, said the following about his compatriot while speaking on the An Echo of Glory podcast:
"When you score 19 Premier League goals for Bournemouth that carries weight. "I think he can 100% get himself back into the England squad. He's quick, he's powerful, he's strong, he can score a goal and I think he's quite creative as well. That was the one area since Kane has gone, you'll never replace Kane, he's one of the best ever. But when you get someone like him, I don't think Richarlison is up to it, but Solanke, over the next two or three years if he can stay fit you have someone there who can get between 15-20 goals for sure."
Richarlison's poor form since checking into Tottenham has been one of the key reasons why the club was compelled to sign a striker this summer, though at the same time, Solanke has all that it takes to be a worthy replacement for Harry Kane.
He has a strong physical in the final third, much like Kane, which equips him to create chances for the rest of his teammates, particularly the wingers. Son Heung-min and Dejan Kulusevski are lethal options in front of goal and it will be exciting to see how they gel with Solanke when he is able to get some consistency under his belt.
More Tottenham Hotspur News: Given that he scored 19 goals for Bournemouth, he can easily better that tally at Tottenham where he would be provided with better service in the box. As such, he will even be an asset for them in the Europa League as at his age, he should be able to play matches every three days without much to worry about.
