With the first international break of the 2024/24 season now over, Chelsea and AFC Bournemouth will now return full focus to the Premier League.

The Cherries have had an unbeaten start to the league season, picking up draws against Nottingham Forest and Newcastle United before recording their first win of the season against Everton.

Antoine Semenyo has had a hot start to the season, netting twice and assisting once, but he will now look to lead his side to their first home victory of the campaign.

Last season's meeting with Chelsea on the south coast finished as a 0-0 draw. However, new Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca held the upper hand over Bournemouth's Andoni Iraola after his Leicester City side beat the Cherries 1-0 in the Carabao Cup.

Maresca's Blues have had a comparatively inconsistent start to the Premier League season. Chelsea began their season with a 2-0 defeat to defending champions Manchester City.

Noni Madueke was then key as Chelsea thrashed Wolves 6-2, while they returned to Stamford Bridge to pick up a disappointing 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace.

The side who finished 6th last season will now be looking to secure their second consecutive away win of the season.

With all factors indicating an entertaining and open game, here is a tactical analysis of all you need to know ahead of the fixture.

Bournemouth's free-flowing football After an outstanding debut season as manager, expectations have now grown upon Iraola's Bournemouth side and this year, it was important to start quickly.

The 42-year-old did not pick up his first win until 28 October 2023 as Bournemouth almost looked set for a relegation battle.

On the other hand, during this campaign, the Cherries are now unbeaten in their first three Premier League games and look more than the part under their Spanish manager.

Iraola's pressing ideologies are ever-present in his side's identity and a key component to Bournemouth's early success has been their xG creation this season.

Despite playing just three fixtures, Iraola's side have the joint-7th highest xG in Europe's top five leagues this season, only sitting behind sides such as Barcelona, Liverpool, and Paris Saint-Germain.

Alongside high xG creation, the Cherries have scored a total of five Premier League goals.

Ghanaian winger Antoine Semenyo has been the main man to catch the eye, recording three goal contributions and receiving new plaudits due to his pace and power.

However, several of Bournemouth's frontline have also played a huge part and succeeded this season.

Last weekend's hero and match-winner, Luis Sinisterra, has looked sharp - scoring and assisting once respectively in just 107 minutes of football.

Additionally, after a successful pre-season, Dango Ouattara has begun the season on a high. The Burkina Faso international provided a perfect assist against Everton to ignite the Cherries' comeback.

Despite impressing, Ouattara has also suffered from an unlucky start to the season, suffering from two goals that were disallowed due to controversial offsides and handballs.

Chelsea's dangerous duo Football and transfers under the ownership of Todd Boehly have been nothing short of manic and disappointing for Chelsea.

However, one thing that has seemed to hit the jackpot is the capturing and development of the talented young English duo Cole Palmer and Noni Madueke.

Madueke, who joined the Blues for a fee of EUR35m from PSV Eindhoven in January 2023, has had a fast start to the season, scoring four goals in four appearances.

The 22-year-old had a slow start to life at the Blues, struggling to find permanent game-time in his first two seasons, but Madueke now seems to be having his breakout year.

The winger possesses unpredictable skill and flair that could give any defender a handful, while he now also seems to have added end-product to his already exciting game.

Madueke averages 1.53 goal contributions per 90 minutes, placing the young attacker above 97% of players in the Premier League.

Additionally, to top off the Englishman's superb start, Madueke was called up to the England squad, being handed his debut in the Three Lions' 2-0 win over Finland by former under-21s manager Lee Carsley.

Meanwhile, Chelsea's star man last season and talisman, Cole Palmer, has also continued his form from the previous season.

The former Manchester City man has recorded four assists and one goal in the first three games of the league season.

Palmer, joined Chelsea from the Citizens for a fee of around PS47m - scoring 27 times and assisting for 15 goals. The 22-year-old was also awarded the PFA Young Player of the Year for his successful debut season.

The midfielder's attacking creativity has been crucial for Chelsea in securing European football and supplying fellow teammates such as Nicolas Jackson in front of goal.

So far this season, Palmer averages 1.37 assists per 90 minutes in the Premier League, sitting above 99% of players.

Chelsea's hope for a three-point trip on the south coast will heavily depend on the pair as Madueke and Palmer look to add to their respective goal tallies.

Late comebacks and momentum As their first league win of the season, picking up maximum points after an unbelievable comeback in added time, just how huge could Bournemouth's 3-2 win over Everton be?

It seemed to be another disappointing trip to Goodison Park as Dominic Calvert-Lewin dinked the home side in front against the Cherries, with Iraola's side looking down and out.

However, what would come next would be an unprecedented comeback as Semenyo, Sinisterra, and Outtara all netted after the 88th minute to secure the victory.

Last season, Iraola's Bournemouth were typically a streaky side that seemingly relied upon confidence and building a positive run on the pitch.

Following a significant win on 11 November during the last campaign, the south coast side sustained a seven-game unbeaten run - recording impressive wins at Old Trafford and a 3-0 win against Fulham.

Similarly, after their dramatic win against Everton, the Cherries are now in a period where they have picked up points, put in positive performances, and have their main men on form, whilst new men such as Dean Huijsen have also hit the ground running.

Now looking forward to Saturday, fixtures against Chelsea have stereotypically been one of success for the Cherries, beating the London side four times and drawing twice since their initial promotion to the Premier League in 2015.

With confidence, a fixture back at home, and no significant knocks or injuries following the international break, Bournemouth will hope that they will continue to positively build upwards and be Chelsea's bogey team.
