Sky Sports pundit predicts result of Leeds v QPR, makes 'holding them back' claim

Sky Sports pundit David Prutton says Leeds United are being held back by performances like they produced against Southampton, but predicted the Whites to bounce back when they host QPR.

Leeds were three goals down inside 35 minutes against Southampton in Saturday's [30 September] Championship clash at St Mary's, before pulling one back in a 3-1 defeat.

The visit of QPR to Elland Road on Wednesday [4 October] provides Daniel Farke's men with a quick opportunity to bounce back, which Prutton expects them to take.

Predicting a 2-0 win for United, Prutton told Sky Sports [2 October]: "For all the talk of Leeds' attacking prowess, they still throw in too many performances like the one against Southampton on Saturday. It is holding them back right now.

"It is a decent chance to bounce back on paper, but QPR are much better on the road than they are at home. Gareth Ainsworth can set up a side to frustrate superior opposition, but I still think Leeds should find a way through."

Leeds had made themselves very tough to beat prior to their trip south at the weekend, going six games since their most recent loss at the hands of Birmingham City.

The performance at St Mary's was worrying, both from an attacking and defensive viewpoint, but results like this happen in the Championship.

The key is to quickly respond and find some momentum again as soon as possible, which is why the visit of QPR is now so important.

Leeds have back-to-back home games, with Bristol City up next at the weekend, to put things right before the international break.

The loss to an out-of-form Southampton was far from ideal, but the Whites are still only three points off the top six.

After a couple more sessions on the training ground, let's hope the players have got the St Mary's setback out of their system.

In other Leeds United news, journalist Graham Smyth says the actions of a player against Southampton "was not a good look".
