Arsenal are one of the admirers of Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Pedro Neto, according to The Athletic journalist David Ornstein.

The Portugal international has had another injury-plagued campaign, but he has still impressed with three goals and 11 assists across all competitions.

The Gunners have been interested in signing him for a while and when asked about Neto's future, Ornstein said that the club are in the race.

However, the reputed journalist added that a transfer is far from guaranteed this summer as he is contracted to Wolves until the summer of 2027.

Ornstein added that there could be some reservations about his fitness record while suitors could also be put off by the huge PS80 million price tag.

He said in a Q&A session on The Athletic: "Neto is having a brilliant season and that naturally makes him one to watch in the next transfer window. First thing to say is there's no guarantee he leaves Wolves."

"He's under contract until 2027 and the club are on course for a much higher finish than they would have budgeted for, which strengthens their footballing and financial outlook.

"It is no secret that the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City and Newcastle United are all admirers of the Portugal international, although they may harbour some reservations about his fitness record.

"It would also take around PS80m for Wolves to part with Neto, as I understand it, and that is another obstacle."

Arsenal unlikely to spend PS80m on Neto Mikel Arteta's side are long-term admirers of the Portuguese winger and they initially failed with an approach during the 2022 summer transfer window.

Their interest cooled over the next 12 months due to his long-term injuries, but he has returned to his old self this season with 14 goal contributions for Wolves.

Neto has the ability to play on the right and left wing with equal efficiency. He can also operate as a second striker or from the number 10 position.

He would be a good acquisition for the Gunners, but we simply don't see the club making a huge PS80m on his services at the end of the ongoing campaign.

Neto has missed almost 100 games for club and country with injuries since his move to Wolves in 2019. He would be a risky signing due to the same reason.

Arsenal already have Thomas Partey and Gabriel Jesus who have spent more time on the sidelines. The former has played just five games during the current season.

They can't afford another injury-plagued player in the squad. We don't believe Neto is worth more than PS40-45m due to his knack of picking up untimely injuries.
