Manchester United could have Casemiro to thank if they are to secure the signature of Fluminense star Andre Trindade. The midfielder is proving hot property and numerous clubs have him on their shortlist for when the January transfer window opens, with the Red Devils among those reportedly keeping close tabs on his situation.

United boss Erik ten Hag reshuffled his midfield ranks over the summer, bringing in Mason Mount and Sofyan Amrabat to provide depth and quality in the department. Fred was then granted a move away from the club, with Scott McTominay also expected to depart in January.

However, the midfield rebuild may not be complete. With Casemiro past his prime, United are looking at alternative options to provide cover for the ex-Real Madrid star whilst also looking ahead at the future and how the squad will look further down the line.

Despite strong interest from Liverpool, United have been linked with Brazilian star Andre and could be tempted to lean on Casemiro for a helping hand in persuading the 22-year-old to make the move to Old Trafford if a bidding war breaks out.

Andre has spoken openly about how he admired United's No. 18, and the chance to be mentored and play alongside his hero could prove very persuasive. The Fluminense star told Folha de Pernambuco: "It is very satisfying to be here always competing with the best, especially in the Brazilian team, which has the best (players) in the world.

"In recent years, Casemiro has been a top player (in his position) in Europe. Playing in the best competitions. So it's been a period of a lot of learning. I'm trying to learn a lot from him, from his movements, from his marking too, as he's the player who most resembles me.
