Adam Pope has been impressed by the work Nick Hammond has conducted in the transfer market for Leeds United.

Speaking on the Don't Go To Bed Just Yet podcast on Monday (16 October), the BBC Radio Leeds journalist said he likes the way the Whites' interim football adviser has "gone about his business".

After chief executive Angus Kinnear admitted that the January business at Elland Road may be primarily based around loan deals, Pope believes it matters who is available as the club looks to challenge for promotion this season.

"We understand more about the outgoings and why they happened," said Pope. "But on the incoming side, people think Nick Hammond and co. have done a good job.

"We know Angus Kinnear has said it will probably be a window for loans. I've always felt that the key to Championship success is how well you do in the loan market in terms of bringing in Premier League-style players, and we've seen that with Leeds, with Ben White and others.

"If it's going to be [primarily] loans, does it matter who is there? I think it does personally. I like the way Nick has gone about his business. It's been very quiet but it's been effective. Why won't that be so again in January, especially if Leeds continue their upward trajectory?"

After the dust has well and truly settled on the summer transfer window, the overall consensus appears to be that Leeds' business was pretty solid.

The club managed to secure some excellent late additions that have helped Daniel Farke ensure his side have had a decent start to the season.

The signings of Joe Rodon, Ethan Ampadu and Joel Piroe have proved influential, providing the White with a strong spine to build from.

It will largely depend on who is available during the transfer window and where they lie in the league as to whether the club do make too many signings in January.

But after the work they completed over the summer, they will be confident that they can go out and secure the right additions again to be in with a chance of challenging for promotion this season.

In other Leeds United news, a BBC pundit has named a Whites star as a "dark horse" to make the England Euros team.
