Utterly bizarre comments from Moyes will make West Ham star feel lower than a snake's belly
Source: Hammers

David Moyes came out with some utterly bizarre comments in the aftermath of West Ham United's 5-0 defeat to Chelsea.

When West Ham manager David Moyes addressed the media at Stamford Bridge, he suggested that the sale of Declan Rice was the reason why his team have shipped 70 Premier League goals this season.

The Scot massively contradicted himself by making those remarks though...

Back in December when the Hammers were sitting pretty in sixth spot in the Premier League table, Moyes proclaimed to reporters that his team were stronger without Rice (The Mirror):

"From our standpoint, we had to go again and it can make you stronger and make you grow. In many ways, that's what we've done. We've had to go out and find new players, who we thought could help us, and I think we've done it well."

The 26-year-old Mexican has been fantastic for us on the whole, and is undoubtedly the glue that holds this team together.

MORE WEST HAM STORIES

The main problem that Alvarez faces is that because under Moyes we're a team who sit back in a deep block and allow the opposition to have the ball for 60-70% of the time, he is constantly under pressure.

How good could he be in a side where he and his teammates are dictating the game? Hopefully we'll get to see that soon.

For now though, the comments from Moyes on Rice will be absolutely awful for the Mexican's motivation...

David Moyes has made West Ham ace Edson Alvarez feel really low Moyes is well renowned for being a really poor man manager - something that was highlighted recently by Guardian journalist Barney Ronay.

His comments will not only make Alvarez feel incredibly low, but they're all completely false.

Let's not forget, the Scot has built this team. It was him who brought Alvarez and James Ward-Prowse to the club to replace Rice.

In my view, Alvarez is a great defensive midfielder anyway. It's Moyes's system that is to blame.

We've conceded the second most shots on our goal out of all 20 Premier League teams this season. That will catch up with you in the end.

Konstantinos Mavropanos aside, our centre-backs are not fit for purpose, physically or technically. To suggest that Rice's absence is the root cause of all our defensive frailties is utter nonsense, and it's also dishonest.

The remarks from David Moyes after West Ham lost to Chelsea were embarrassing if you ask me, and I feel really bad for how they must have made Alvarez feel.
