Arsenal could be set to pull off the audacious signing of Italian defender Riccardo Calafiori but it appears not everyone agrees with the move.
Mikel Arteta's Arsenal have been left frustrated in the summer transfer market as their top striker target, Benjamin Sesko, decided to pen a new deal at RB Leipzig.
The Gunners' top midfield target in Martin Zubimendi has also proven to be tough to sign with HITC reporting that there is a feeling from those in North London that the Spaniard's preference is Real Madrid or Barcelona.
Defence is not considered a priority this summer but the Gunners are interested in Bologna defender Riccardo Calafiori, who has excelled at Euro 2024.
Thiago Motta's Juventus were long considered the favourites for his signature but it appears that Arsenal have made their move.
"I mentioned him as the surprise of the league but they told me that he is going to Arsenal: our league produces interesting young players but then they take different destinations, " Ferrara told TuttoMercatoWeb.
"I hope not but he is a really important player. I'm sorry, just as I was sorry for Tonali, beyond the events that have affected him."

Sandro Tonali completed a PS55 million move to Newcastle United from AC Milan last summer but the Italian midfielder has hardly featured due to an alleged betting breach.
Calafiori is of interest to Arsenal but Juventus remain keen Arsenal had previously insisted to HITC that they would not be spending big money on defensive additions this summer due to the options they have.
However, HITC does understand that the Gunners are keen on the Italian defender but Juventus appear to be favourites.
Motta was manager of Bologna last season and Calafiori was one of his most important players and the Juventus manager is understood to be keen on a reunion with the 22-year-old defender.
