Report: £25m Arsenal target is refusing to leave his club on loan and could become a 'serious problem'
Source:Football News,

One forward-thinking midfielder who's been linked with a move to Arsenal is now refusing to leave his current club on loan this summer.

Although Edu and his team appear to be making progress in their attempts to sign Riccardo Calafiori, there has been little talk regarding who Arsenal will add in midfield.

Before the summer began, Mikel Arteta was said to have requested the addition of a new left-back, a central midfielder and a new forward.

And although Calafiori can solve Arsenal's vacancy in defence, the addition of a new starter alongside Declan Rice is arguably more important.

Arsenal are said to be open to signing a number six or a number eight, given that Rice can excel in both roles.

And during Euro 2024, it's become clear that Arsenal are interested in signing Real Madrid midfielder Arda Guler.

And given Guler is now set to return to Spain for pre-season after his holiday, it would appear that all is not quite perfect.

Real Madrid anticipating an issue with Arsenal target Arda Guler this season Having played just 12 times for Madrid in an injury-hit campaign last season, Guler will now demand a much bigger role after his showing at the Euros.

However, according to Spanish outlet Sport, that position may not be readily available for the 19-year-old under Carlo Ancelotti just yet.

It seems that Madrid would like to loan Guler for a season in Spain, allowing him to gain better experience in La Liga.

Although, according to the report mentioned, Guler would refuse to head out on loan this season - regardless of how much pressure Ancelotti puts on him.

Sport state that Ancelotti is aware that he is going to have a 'serious problem' on his hands this season, anticipating that PS25m-rated Guler won't be happy with his role.

Of course, given that Arsenal were scouting Guler at the Euros, now could be the perfect time to swoop in for his signature.

Guler is already showing signs of becoming the next Mesut Ozil - a player who must have impressed Arsenal's recruitment team on further inspection.

All that being said, Ian Wright has been seriously impressed by a current Arsenal player for his country of late.
