Arsenal will get £42m FFP boost this summer if AI transfer predictions correct
Source:Football.London -

When you look at teams that have run the transfer market over the last few years, Arsenal are certainly not the first club that comes to mind, but the Gunners' ability to spend heavy should not be underestimated.

Their PS105million signing of Declan Rice last season alongside the PS65million splash-out for Chelsea star Kai Havertz both proved to be worthy sums of cash well-spent, but their additions could not stop Manchester City from pipping Mikel Arteta to his first Premier League title as Gunners boss.

Despite the painful end to the 2023/24 campaign, Arsenal are still an enticing destination for many players and will no doubt be the scene of some serious upgrades this summer. But for these upgrades to happen, the club also needs to start selling its fair share of stars, something it's done little of over the last few years.

Whilst it's part and parcel of football nowadays, selling players hasn't really been the forte at the Emirates Stadium - it's been seven years since the last player was sold for more than PS30million, that being Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to Liverpool back in 2017. This summer, it may again be difficult for the club to get more than that for some of the stars they're trying to sell, namely the likes of Kieran Tierney, Eddie Nketiah and Oleksandr Zinchenko.

But midfielder Emile Smith Rowe may be able to crack that PS30million barrier that has held Arsenal back financially over the years. Rivals Chelsea have seen a constant churn-out of both 'pure profit' sales and sales of big stars for more than PS35million-PS40million over the years which has led to them being able to fund their ludicrous spending habits under both Roman Abramovich and Todd Boehly. Arsenal may have to cut their cloth accordingly to comply with Financial Fair Play and the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability Rules, unless they can bring in some money from sales.

Smith Rowe would be one of those brilliant 'pure profit' sales for the Gunners, meaning he'd generate a major boost for their accounts but whether he actually wants an exit from the Emirates Stadium is a different question altogether. Whilst injuries have hindered him and seen him fall down the pecking order under Arteta, there's still a clear interest in staying in north London from the 23-year-old despite being linked with moves away.

Having made just 19 appearances in all competitions last season, Smith Rowe still has two years remaining on his contract and has already flown out to Marbella with Arteta for an early pre-season training camp, with the star even flying out a week earlier in order to get a head start on his teammates according to CBS Sports - giving evidence to the clear determination he has to stay at Arsenal.

However, according to FairBettingSites, who used AI software to predict some of the biggest outgoing Premier League transfers of the summer, Smith Rowe is set to get an exit from the Emirates Stadium for around EUR50million (PS42.5million) as he moves from Arsenal to Borussia Dortmund.

The Bundesliga side will need to replace the likes of Marco Reus, who ended his legendary 12-year stint with Dortmund in their narrow Champions League final loss to Real Madrid in May, and may look to snap up Smith Rowe if he can prove that his fitness levels are high enough.

Some of the other moves their AI predicted was Mohamed Salah's PS110million exit from Liverpool to Real Madrid, Bernardo Silva's PS60million move from Man City to Barcelona and a PS57.4million deal between Tottenham and Atletico Madrid for Son Heung-min.
