Arsenal Have Set Their Sights On This Wolves Keeper: Should Arteta Get Him On Board?

In a recent report, The Athletic mentioned that Arsenal have set their sights on Wolverhampton Wanderers keeper Dan Bentley. It has been stated that the Gunners are eyeing a move to bring the English custodian to the Emirates Stadium this summer.

Bentley's Recent Season At The Molineux Stadium Bentley managed to put in a few impressive displays in between the sticks for Wolves in the previous campaign. The English talent made eight senior appearances for the West Midlands club last season, conceding 14 goals and keeping three clean sheets in the process on all fronts.

The 30-year-old did well to average 0.6 clearances and 4.6 long balls per game in the Premier League. However, he was inaccurate when distributing the ball from the back after completing 64.4% of his attempted passes in the top tier of English football (stats via whoscored).

His current contract at the Molineux Stadium will expire at the end of next season which could give the Gunners a chance to land him on the cheap later this year.

Thus, Bentley should only consider making a switch to Arsenal if he is willing to play second-fiddle to David Raya at the Emirates Stadium in the coming seasons. However, there are some concerns over whether he can make a smooth transition to life at the North London club due to the limited playing opportunities he received at Wolves last season.

At 30, Bentley has still got a lot of football left in him. Hence, he might be able to help the Gunners compete across all competitions over the next few years. With all things considered, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta would be wise to try everything they can to get Bentley on board before the end of this summer transfer window.
