5 best possible center back transfer targets for Juventus in summer 2024 window
Source:The Trivela

Although the defense was the strongest part of the Juventus squad that finished third in Serie A last season, the Bianconeri could be after a new center back target this summer.

After being linked with a move for Bologna star Riccardo Calafiori, Juventus are now eyeing Arsenal's Jakub Kiwior as the alternative if the Italian breakout star moves to the Emirates.

And if Juve want someone other than Kiwior, a former Serie A standout himself in La Spezia, then the Old Lady could turn her gaze towards Nice's Jean-Clair Todibo.

Those are the two main center back targets on the lips of Juventini as possible Danilo and/or Federico Gatti replacements, with Gleison Bremer also the subject of transfer speculation.

But here are three more transfer targets for Juventus in the summer 2024 transfer window.

Jakub Kiwior, Arsenal Jakub Kiwior was one to watch in Serie A, but he probably moved too early to Arsenal in the winter 2023 transfer window from relegation candidates Spezia.

The Polish international took some time to break into the Arsenal lineup, but he took over for Oleksandr Zinchenko at left back by the end of the 2023/24 season.

Versatile and talented in his own right, Kiwior is no Calafiori, but he is a great athlete and solid ball-playing defender, too. Kiwior could be a strong heir to the underrated Danilo.

Jean-Clair Todibo, Nice Jean-Clair Todibo is actually a stronger center back target for Juventus this summer, though he could cost a tad more with Kiwior becoming expendable if Arsenal sign Calafiori and Nice holding a bidding war among prominent Premier League clubs.

With all due respect to Tottenham and West Ham, Juventus carry a different weight than either of those English sides, matching Todibo's former club Barcelona in clout.

Todibo would immediately start in a back three for Federico Gatti, who doesn't seem to be rated highly by incoming manager Thiago Motta.

At 40 million euros, Todibo would be cheaper than Calafiori, and while he isn't as exciting as the Italian international, the Frenchman has a stronger track record of success and isn't far off in terms of his skill on the ball; he's still underrated despite the recent transfer attention.

Alessandro Buongiorno, Torino Juventus made a killing off the signing of Gleison Bremer from crosstown rivals Torino, because, if anything, the Brazilian defender has only improved his stock with the Bianconeri since winning the Serie A Defender of the Year award with the Bulls.

Alessandro Buongiorno's 2023/24 season for Torino was just as excellent as any of Bremer's seasons with that club, as the likes of Chelsea and Tottenham in England are monitoring the 25-year-old Italian.

Honestly, Buongiorno had the best season of any center back in European football this past season when looking purely at the statistics.

He averaged 2.4 tackles and 2.4 interceptions per game while being dribbled past just 0.3 times per match and scoring three goals to help out Duvan Zapata and the Torino attacking cause.

Giorgio Scalvini, Atalanta When combining quality and future upside, Giorgio Scalvini would be the best possible center back signing for Juventus, and though he has been overshadowed by Riccardo Calafiori's breakout at Bologna, the Atalanta man may actually be a better pure defender and overall addition.

Scalvini could cost more than the approximately 50 million euros Arsenal are set to pay for Calafiori; a price tag Juventus evidently didn't think was worth it despite employing the manager who helped Calafiori break out.

Only 20 years of age, the Italian Scalvini averaged 1.6 tackles and 1.8 interceptions per game, standing out as one of the most intelligent defenders in Serie A last season as he continues to make strides in Gian Piero Gasperini's demanding system.

Loic Bade, Sevilla Loic Bade helped lead Sevilla to an extremely unlikely 2022/23 Europa League triumph over Jose Mourinho's Roma, as Sevilla were relegation candidates before a furious second half of the season turnaround.

Likewise, Sevilla were terrible this past season, but at least Bade was strong again, forming one of Europe's best center back partnerships with the legendary Sergio Ramos.

Only 24 years old, Bade is still a way's off from his prime and avoids the limelight because Sevilla have become so profoundly disappointing these days.

That could make the Frenchman a tremendous market opportunity for Juventus, because he is intelligent in defense, strong in the air, and decent with the ball at his feet.
