'It's a joke': Rio Ferdinand claims Arsenal have a really 'unpredictable' player who is so strong

Rio Ferdinand has heaped praise on one Arsenal player after being really impressed with his strength and unpredictability.

The Gunners have a fantastic squad of players. They have challenged for the Premier League title for two seasons in a row, going toe-to-toe with Manchester City.

Arsenal will almost definitely be there again in the 2024/25 season - even if they don't sign any new players in this transfer window. That's how good their squad is.

One player, in particular, will be key for them, and Ferdinand has heaped praise on him.

Rio Ferdinand shares one thing that makes Arsenal's Bukayo Saka unpredictable Arsenal star Bukayo Saka is one of the best players in the world.

The Englishman had to listen to a lot of criticism at Euro 2024 up until England's quarter-final victory over Switzerland on penalties. Some people even wanted Saka to be dropped, which shocked Tony Cascarino among others.

Saka silenced every single one of his critics with a sensational performance against the Swiss, scoring from distance to level the game and then converting his penalty in the shootout.

After his incredible display, nobody is calling for Saka to play at left-back or any other position apart from his natural role on the right-wing.

Ferdinand, who once famously said that Saka is not world-class, has been heaping praise on the Arsenal and England number seven recently.

He has now raved about the 22-year-old's strength on the ball and revealed what makes him unpredictable.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Ferdinand said: "The way that we played the other day, Saka is so important because he gives us that ability to get at people, he's getting the guy one-v-one.

"And I said this before - what I like about him, and one of my criticisms about Saka was that he was so dominant on coming inside on his left foot whereas this game especially he was facing, and he has done it in this tournament a lot, he's facing the full-back one-v-one and gone outside as much as he has come inside.

"So, it makes it unpredictable. And when a winger is unpredictable like that, like Mahrez has been for many years, you go that is a hard, hard day's work, that is. And if you go right up tight when the ball is rolling into him, he's strong enough to roll you like [Mohamed] Salah does. He's so strong, it's a joke."

At England, however, the 22-year-old has to work a lot harder. That is because of Gareth Southgate's tactics, and we think he needs to tweak his system to make his number seven even better.

One of the biggest reasons why Saka is so good for Arsenal is Ben White's movement. The defender offers him so much support in attacks with his forward runs, and that makes the Gunners incredibly dangerous in the final third.

Kyle Walker has mostly played behind Saka at Euro 2024, and although the Manchester City man is capable of attacking, he hasn't done that as much as we'd like.

An argument can even be made that Walker is hindering Saka with his reluctance to get forward.

So, we think bringing Trent Alexander-Arnold into the side would make England's attack a lot more threatening. Saka would become considerably more dangerous too.

England take on the Netherlands on Wednesday in the semi-finals, and it will be interesting to see if Southgate will be brave and make that change.
