'Game changing': Mikel Arteta told 'explosive' Euro 2024 winger would be a brilliant signing for Arsenal this summer
Source:Football News,

One Arsenal target has been incredible at Euro 2024.

There have been quite a few complaints that this year's European Championships has failed to live up to the expectations, and that is true to an extent.

However, there have been a few cracking games, and some players have lit up the stage in Germany and impressed everyone in the process.

One of them has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal this summer, and former Gunner Adrian Clarke is really excited about the prospect of seeing him at the Emirates.

The one reason why Nico Williams will be a 'game-changing' signing for Arsenal Athletic Bilbao and Spain star Nico Williams has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal this summer.

The Gunners are on the market for a wide player in this window. They need someone who will not just be a great option on one flank but also be capable of playing on the opposite side.

Mikel Arteta also needs someone explosive to get in behind stubborn low blocks that his side regularly come up against in the Premier League.

It will be interesting to see who the North Londoners will sign this summer, but if reports are to be believed, Arsenal have made a bid for Williams.

The Spaniard has been unbelievable at Euro 2024 so far. Rio Ferdinand believes Williams has been the best player in the competition.

Arsenal are right to target the 21-year-old, and Clarke, who is an expert at analysing players, is really excited that his old club are in the mix to sign him.

In his article on talkSPORT, Clarke wrote: "I'm also excited that Arsenal are in the mix to sign Nico Williams, a contender for Player of the Tournament at Euro 2024. Just like Calafiori, the Spanish winger fulfils all the criteria in Arteta's search engine."

After talking about how he would fit in, the pundit explained why he thinks Williams would be a 'game-changing addition' to this Arsenal side.

He said: "If Williams does move to Arsenal and plays the left, he would simultaneously offer useful cover for Bukayo Saka on the other flank too. The Spain international is not perturbed at the prospect of switching wings.

"Encountering many opponents who will try and stifle Arsenal with defensive tactics next term, the explosive and skilful Williams could be a magnificent, game-changing addition."

Every single player at the club is pushing in the same direction and all of them share a fantastic relationship with each other. That has helped the Gunners challenge for the Premier League title two seasons in a row.

The last thing Arteta would want is some disharmony in the group, and signing Williams could potentially cause that.

That's according to Charles Watts, who has revealed that Williams' wage demands could cause problems with senior Arsenal players because he would become one of the highest earners at the club.

That could force Arsenal to back away from signing Williams, which is a shame as he has all the qualities the Gunners need in the wide areas.
