‘Fantastic player’: Fabrizio Romano says Arsenal think £105m midfielder could be ‘perfect’ for them
Source:Football News,

Arsenal are in the market for a new midfield player this summer.

The Gunners have been linked with the likes of Bruno Guimaraes and Martin Zubimendi during this transfer window, but according to Fabrizio Romano, there's another midfield player the north London club believe could be perfect.

Indeed, speaking on The United Stand, Romano claimed that Arsenal see Joao Neves as a fantastic player who would be perfect for their project.

Arsenal think Joao Neves could be perfect The journalist spoke about Neves and how Arsenal view the player.

"I think it's very difficult to sign Joao Neves at the moment. PSG aren't walking away, he's considered their top target," Romano said.

"They know that at the moment things can change in three or four weeks, so let's keep the story open, but Benfica want EUR120m, the release clause. They don't want to change the structure, they want to continue with Neves next season and maybe sell in the summer of 2025.

"We know United have been tracking the midfielder for months, and it's the same for many clubs around Europe, Arsenal and PSG consider Neves a fantastic player and perfect for their idea."

PS105m would represent a club-record-equalling deal for the Gunners, and as good as Neves is, it's hard to see Arsenal stumping up that sort of cash for a teenager who hasn't played that much football at the top level.

Arsenal do have some serious financial muscle, but PS105m on an unproven player isn't the sort of transfer the Gunners get themselves involved with.

Unless Neves' price drops significantly, it's hard to envisage Neves joining Arsenal in this summer transfer window.
