Arsenal should move on from the possibility of signing Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi following his comments on international duty this week.
The Spain international has been a long-term target for the Gunners and it was recently reported that they are prepared to pay the PS51 million release clause in his contract.
However, it is well known that Zubimendi has been reluctant to leave Sociedad over the years and the 25-year-old has yet again closed the door on a potential summer exit.
Speaking to El Diario Vasco via (Estadio Deportivo), the midfielder insisted that he is going to be at Sociedad next season and is most comfortable with them.
He said: "Where am I going to play next season? I'm going to be at Real Sociedad. I have a contract with Real Sociedad, and that's where I'm most comfortable."
Arsenal need to forget about Zubimendi Gunners boss Mikel Arteta is a huge admirer of his compatriot, but the midfielder has refused to give the green light for a move to the Premier League in recent years.
Sociedad are his comfort zone and he does not wish to change clubs unless they ask him to do so. Manager Imanol recently ruled out the midfielder's departure.
In our view, Arsenal are fighting a losing battle with regards to Zubimendi. They need to move on to alternative targets rather than placing hope on a change of stance.
Zubimendi has no desire to pursue a new challenge at the moment. Even if he chooses to, there are suggestions that he could prefer either Barcelona or Real Madrid.
Hopefully, the latest comments from the Spaniard will put an end to the Gunners speculation.
