Arsenal are in talks with a foreign club about selling one of their quickest players this summer.
The Gunners were really quiet in the transfer market in June, but they are expected to be a lot more active now with both incomings and outgoings.
A number of players could be sold in this window, with reports claiming that Arsenal have put 10 players on the chopping block.
One of them is now attracting interest from abroad, and he could be sold for a very small fee in the coming weeks.
What Lazio have told Arsenal about Nuno Tavares during transfer talks Nuno Tavares has been on Arsenal's books since the summer of 2021.
The Gunners signed the Portuguese left-back from Benfica to provide cover for Kieran Tierney, and he started the campaign in impressive fashion.
However, in the second half of the 2021/22 season, Tavares suffered a serious drop in form and confidence, and he has been out of favour since.
Tavares spent the following season on loan at Marseille. He had a great start to the campaign there too but was really poor in the second half of his spell.
In the 2023/24 season, Tavares was at Nottingham Forest on loan. He played less than 700 minutes of football there and his future is up in the air again now.
Having entered the final year of his contract, Tavares has admitted that he could leave Arsenal, and Serie A side Lazio are now in talks to sign him.
That's according to Sky Sports and Gianluca Di Marzio, who have revealed that negotiations between Arsenal and the Italian club are underway for the left-back.
The Premier League runners-up are open to letting Tavares leave but are demanding a fee between PS6.7 million and PS7.6 million plus a significant sell-on clause.
Lazio, on the other hand, have offered a lower fee - just under PS6 million - are pushing to sign Tavares in the coming days. They have even scheduled a call with his agents to discuss the move.
The full-back has entered the final year of his deal, which means that the Gunners will either have to sell him in this window or risk losing him for nothing in 2025.
Tavares' contract situation and the fact that he only played 12 times in the 2023/24 season means he's not worth a lot of money, which is why Lazio are hoping to seal a deal for under PS6 million.
Arsenal may have to cut their losses and let Tavares go, but Edu Gaspar has made a smart demand that could seriously benefit the Gunners.
Sky Sports reveal in their report that Arsenal are demanding 'an important percentage on the player's future resale'.
Tavares is still only 24, and he definitely has the quality to make a good name for himself in the Serie A if he goes to Lazio this summer. He's one of the fastest players on Arsenal's books having clocked a top speed of 36.21 km/h (SpeedsDB). That sort of pace could help him become a star in Italy.
That could mean that the Portuguese defender could secure a big move in the future, which would then benefit Arsenal if Edu gets the sell-on percentage he's looking for in the deal.
