Arsenal lodge bid for 'important' Wolves star - another proposal to follow
Source:Latest News

The Gunners' first proposal for the backup shot-stopper fell well short of Wolves' valuation and it was immediately rebuffed, reports The Athletic.

Mikel Arteta's side, eager to provide added competition for David Raya and Aaron Ramsdale, have turned to Bentley to tick more than one box. As the Wolves man is an Arsenal academy graduate, his acquisition would help a great deal with registration rules, as well as the obvious depth in the goalkeeping department.

The 30-year-old has only made nine senior appearances for Wolves since signing from Bristol City in January 2023 but he did enjoy a run of three Premier League starts in December of last season. In the appearances he racked up, Bentley kept three clean sheets and conceded 13 goals.

Earlier in his career, the shot-stopper played a total of 428 matches across spells with Bristol, Brentford and Southend United. In those fixtures, Bentley preserved 121 clean sheets and let in 532 goals. He's now expected to move on once again, despite featuring only a handful of times for the Old Gold.

Arsenal, determined to land Bentley to strengthen their ranks for pre-season and beyond, are expected to return with another offer. If they see a bid accepted, personal terms would likely progress quickly as the Gunners' intentions are clear and the player wants the move, even if it means being a third choice rather than a backup.
