Report: Arsenal are interested in signing ‘immense’ midfielder who makes way more tackles than Declan Rice
Source: Football News,

Arsenal are in the market for a new midfield player.

The Gunners have been linked with a number of potential targets in this position from Bruno Guimaraes to Martin Zubimendi to Mikel Merino.

Interestingly, Arsenal are now being linked with another option from within the Premier League.

Indeed, while there's been a lot of chat around Bruno Guimaraes and Arsenal in this transfer window, the Gunners could now move for one of his international teammates.

Unfortunately for the Gunners, they're not the only team with the same idea.

Indeed, Galetti notes that Liverpool, Tottenham and Manchester United are also keen on the player.

Joao Gomes would be brilliant for Arsenal This would be a fantastic signing for Arsenal if they were able to get it over the line.

Gomes was quietly one of the Premier League's best midfielders last season, earning praise from a number of pundits throughout the campaign.

Micah Richards was a champion of the 'immense' midfielder towards the end of the season, claiming he's going to the very top.

"Gomes he is a player by the way. We don't get to see Wolves too much on TV, but seeing him up close and personal," Richards said on The Rest is Football.

"His touches, and seeing him when he wins the ball back, his weight of ball forward. Sorry Wolves fans, he is going to the top level."

The stats back up Gomes' brilliance as well. The Brazilian averages 3.8 tackles per game in the Premier League - for comparison, Declan Rice averages just 2.2, so Gomes outperforms in the England international by some way in that metric.

Arsenal do need more reinforcements in that midfield, and Gomes would be a perfect addition to complement the talent Mikel Arteta's side already has.
