The 18-year-old will now travel to north London to undergo a medical and finalise terms, and the deal should be completed within the next 48 hours.

A full agreement for the transfer has been reached between Arsenal and Ajax after the Gunners moved quickly to get a deal over the line.

Mikel Arteta had been keen to bring in a young goalkeeper while Aaron Ramsdale's future at the Emirates remains up in the air.

Arsenal academy goalkeepers Ovie Ejeheri, James Hillson and Arthur Okonkwo were all released last month, making room for Setford to fill in.

He has made a name for himself in the Ajax academy and is extremely highly rated both at the Dutch club and within the England youth system.

The Gunners had also made a move to sign Wolves goalkeeper Daniel Bentley and had lined up a fresh offer before reaching a breakthrough in talks with Ajax.

However, as revealed by Football Insider, they are still lining up a new bid for Bentley, with Ramsdale's long-term future set to prove decisive.

In other news, Marseille are lining up a bid to sign Eddie Nketiah.
