Didi Hamann's Premier League top four prediction as Man Utd topple Arsenal and Liverpool
Source:The Mirror:

Manchester United have started the summer transfer window with a bang while Premier League rivals Arsenal and Liverpool are both yet to make a major new signing

Didi Hamann has backed Manchester United to finish above both Arsenal and Liverpool next season in a suspiring Premier League prediction.

Despite his playing allegiances being to Liverpool, Hamann believes that Erik ten Hag's side will bounce back in style after their disastrous eighth-placed finish last term. That marked the Red Devils' worst ever Premier League season, with Ten Hag close to getting the sack before United chiefs decided that he was still best option, having interviewed multiple replacement candidates.

Now with the summer signings of PS36million striker Joshua Zirkzee and PS52m defender Leny Yoro, Hamann reckons that his old rivals will move up a whopping six places in 2024-25. Unfortunately for United, however, that won't give them a first league title in 12 years.

"It's hard not to see Manchester City where they always are [at the top]," Hamann told TopOffshoreSportsBooks. "I'm not certain about Arsenal because they have missed their chances."

"I've got a feeling Man United will do okay next season. Obviously, Kobbie Mainoo has been a breath of fresh air in the Euros and he'll play a major role."

So, what of Liverpool? New manager Arne Slot has a difficult task to improve on Jurgen Klopp's final season in which the Reds won a trophy and finished third in the league table. The Dutchman emerged as Liverpool's first-choice pick after Xabi Alonso decided to stay with German champions Bayer Leverkusen.

"Can I see [Xabi] Alonso at Liverpool one day? Yeah, of course I can. But it's always a matter of timing. They just need to beat Bayern Munich to land Alonso - they will want him too but I back the Reds to seal his signature."
