Source: The Daily

Nico Williams isn't biting his nails over a move as Barcelona and Arsenal wrestle for his signature.

After setting Euro 2024 alight on Spain's flank, bagging a couple of goals plus an assist in Germany - including a blinder in the final against England - 22-year-old Williams has clubs queuing up for him this summer.

With a juicy PS49million (EUR58m) exit fee flashing in his Athletic Bilbao contract, Arsenal and Barcelona fancy their chances at snapping him up.

But Athletic's gaffer Ernesto Valverde is telling everyone to cool their jets, betting that Williams will stick around. Williams, himself, seems chill, posting a pic on Instagram with a sunset and boat backdrop captioned: "Calm down," topped off with a head massage emoji.

Williams, an Athletic Club homegrown talent, has knocked in 20 goals and set up 26 more in 122 matches. With three more years on his deal, Valverde reckons he knows where Williams' loyalty lies, reports the Mirror.

"He's a great player and there may be clubs who might be interested in him, but he's happy with us and we're happy with him. We're counting on Nico for when he returns from the holidays."

Valverde's thoughts have not calmed the incessant links with Barcelona, however. Barca players Gavi, Lamine Yamal and Alejandro Balde all commented on his most recent Instagram post which showed Williams wearing a Euro 2024 winners' medal and an Athletic shirt.

"Economically speaking, we could commit to the signing of Nico Williams," Laporta told Catalunya Radio. "Nico's a player I like, I like him a lot. ""We are working with [coach Hansi] Flick on possible signings.

Now we have to leave [sporting director] Deco to close the operations we are working on."
