Arsenal have expressed an interest in signing Newcastle winger Anthony Gordon ahead of Friday's deadline, according to reports. The Gunners are said to be keen on adding a new forward to their ranks before the summer window slams shut.
They have reached out to discuss a possible move for Gordon, according to the Daily Mail, with Arsenal sporting director Edu thought to be a keen admirer. The winger excelled at Newcastle last season, chipping in with 12 goals and 11 assists in all competitions.
However, it is said that Gordon is poised to stay at Newcastle beyond Friday's deadline with Arsenal likely to make an approach next summer instead. The Magpies have reportedly opened talks regarding a new and improved contract as a reward for his brilliant form last season.
Gordon is thought to be happy at Newcastle and enjoys working under Eddie Howe, while his young family are settled on Tyneside and would prefer not to relocate hundreds of miles away at short notice.
He was targeted by Liverpool earlier in the window, with the Reds firming up their interest after his involvement with England at Euro 2024. However, a move failed to materialise and Liverpool ended up turning to other targets, eventually signing Federico Chiesa from Juventus.
