Preston North End forward, Milutin Osmajic, has been slapped with an eight-match ban and PS15,000 fine by the English FA after biting Blackburn defender, Oliver Beck.
Late on in Preston's 0-0 draw with Blackburn, Beck received a red card from the referee, Matthew Donohue, after kicking out at Duane Holmes. In reaction to the violent action on his teammate, Osmajic, reacted by unleashing his inner Count Dracula to bite Beck on his neck and surprisingly only received a yellow card for that action. Beck showed the bite mark on his neck to his gaffer and teammates after the game, and his manager, John Eustace, mentioned the incident in his press conference.
As expected, the footage involving Osmajic and Beck was reviewed and the ban has been placed on full effect for the incident.
Preston North End has acknowledged decision to ban and fine Osmajic In their official website, Preston North End has acknowledged the decision of the regulatory commission to ban Osmajic and confirmed his unavailability for selection till November 23rd. Osmajic has scored five goals in 10 games for Preston this season, including a hattrick in the EFL Cup Second Round clash with Harrogate Town. The Montenegrin forward was part of the Preston North End squad that beat Fulham on penalties in the Third Round, a 1-1 clash in regulation time that was followed by an unprecedented 16-15 on penalties, with Osmajic scoring twice from the spot.
Preston North End have been paired with Arsenal in the EFL Cup Fourth Round, after the Gunners decimated Bolton Wanderers.
Osmajic was also in very good form, scoring a brace in Preston's win over Watford a couple of days ago.
Fixtures Osmajic will miss Osmajic is set to miss seven SkyBet Championship games as well as the EFL Cup Fourth Round match against Arsenal. The games include ties against Burnley, Coventry City, Norwich City, Plymouth Argyle, Bristol City, Sunderland and Portsmouth. With the club currently 19th in the Championship, Osmajic will be a miss, but they'd have to soldier on without him.
It's been a hot minute since we've heard about any biting incident in football, with the most famous being Luis Suarez earning a 10-match ban for his bite on Chelsea's Branislav Ivanovic some 11 years ago.
Osmajic will certainly regret his actions and even though he can be commended for standing up for his mate, biting a fellow professional on the field is highly unacceptable. What happened to some good ol' shoves or harsh words exchanges. Just the thought him biting Beck on his neck like he was some vampire is cringe worthy.
