Mika Biereth must have been fuming when his successful loan spell at Motherwell last season was cut short after six months. He had scored six goals in 14 games for the Scottish side and was a mainstay in the first team, which is what every loanee hopes for.
However, he returned to Arsenal, only to be shipped out on loan to Austrian outfit, Sturm Graz, for the remainder of the 2023/24 campaign. Biereth picked up where he left off at Motherwell, scoring nine goals in 22 games for Sturm Graz. He was highly liked by the higher ups in the club, that they flew all the way to London to negotiate a deal with Edu Gaspar and co. for a permanent deal.
A deal was confirmed for Mika Biereth as the young forward joined Sturm Graz for a reported PS4 million deal. As you'd expect from any youngster sale, there are some juicy clauses in there which Arsenal will stand to gain when he makes the next big move in his fledgling career. Arsenal recently enjoyed from such a deal when former youngster, Omari Hutchinson, left for Chelsea, only to depart on loan to Ipswich Town, where he played consistently for them in the SkyBet Championship. Following their promotion to the Premier League, Ipswich paid Chelsea PS22 million for the young lad, and Arsenal is set to receive 15 percent of that quid, which is PS3.3 million.
Mika Biereth has been in sensational form for Sturm Graz Following the completion of his move from Arsenal to Sturm Graz, Biereth made his debut as a permanent player in the 1-0 win over Rapid Wien but didn't score. In the very next league game against Hartberg, he opened his goalscoring account for the season. This was followed with a goal against SK Austria Klagenfurt and another goal seven days later against Altach. In the final game for Sturm Graz in August against WSG Tirol, Biereth provided an assist for Leon Grgic's goal, ending the month with three goals and one assist in five games.
Biereth started September with his Champions League debut against Stade Brestois, and played 78 minutes without scoring. In the next two Austrian Bundesliga games against Wolfsberger SC and Austria Wien, Biereth didn't score, but he ended the month with a strike against BW Linz.
In October, Biereth has played two games, lasting for an hour in his second Champions League game against Club Brugge, before scoring a sensational hat-trick against RB Salzburg yesterday.
He's certainly on his way to banging a whole lot of goals this season and I will not be surprised if he makes another big money move next summer.
