Gary Neville agrees as Mike Dean explains why Tosin wasn't sent off for Chelsea against Liverpool
Source:Liverpool Echo:

Gary Neville and Mike Dean both said the incident between Liverpool and Chelsea wasn't similar to the one that saw William Saliba sent off for Arsenal against Bournemouth

Tosin dragged down Diogo Jota just past the halfway line inside the opening 10 minutes of the game at Anfield and was swiftly booked by referee John Brooks.

But fans at Anfield may have rightly felt aggrieved after a similar incident at Bournemouth saw Arsenal's Saliba initially booked before a red card was issued after a VAR check. The defender was deemed to have denied Cherries forward Evanilson a goalscoring opportunity.

He said: "It's completely different to yesterday. There's too much doubt involved it. The ball is going towards the officials on the side.

"For me it's the correct decision."

It was a sentiment that Gary Neville, on commentary, agreed with. The former Manchester United defender also explained that the covering Chelsea players meant that the incident was not red card worthy.
