Second half goals from Mariona Caldentey and Rosa Kafaji were enough to see Arsenal reign 2-0 victors over West Ham United at Chigwell Construction Stadium. West Ham manager Rehanne Skinner spoke to the media following the clash to give her thoughts on the performance.

First providing her assessment on the performance, Skinner praised her side extensively when stating "We were diligent and in and out of possession. I thought we did much, much better."

She continued, "I thought our shape was really well worked out of possession. We made it really hard to be broken down. When we went one nil behind, it was a bit of a blow, but actually the response was really positive. We then got on top with some of our opportunities. I think we've done a lot of good, hard work today, and I'm really proud of the players."

West Ham's defensive performance 'our best of the season' praises Skinner The Irons made it difficult for Arsenal in the opening term, as an organised line continued to frustrate the Gunners as they failed to break down West Ham at the back.

Analysing the defensive performance, Skinner emphasised "We made it really hard to be broken down against them. You've got to keep yourself in the game against these types of teams, frustrate them, make life difficult, concentrate solidly throughout from front to back. Our defensive line has been fantastic today.

That's probably been our best of the season actually. The shape at the back, but the players in front are dictating the game and forcing things into areas where their job at the back is easier as well. So collectively, just really pleased with how diligent the team were throughout."

Arsenal 'rarely stray from their shape' analyses Skinner Arsenal have undergone recent changes after head coach Jonas Eidevall resigned from his post on Tuesday morning. Speaking in regards to whether her side were nervous of the changes that may have arisen under the interim management of Renee Slegers, Skinner was flat in her belief that "No, I didn't think that they were going to change in the short turnaround to be honest."

She elaborated, "Obviously we watched them on Wednesday night and our players have known their players for a long time, so I knew what to expect from them in general as individuals. They very rarely stray from their shape.

Obviously the manager [Slegers] has played that shape previously as well. So I think ultimately, the squad depth is strong. You know that whoever they put out, it's going to be a test. We just had to focus on what we were going to do right, and that was the most important thing. And if we got that right, we'd compete with whoever they put on the pitch. That was the most that it's the only thing that you can control. Really can't control the other team."
