'Impossible' - West Brom loanee could be set for reunion as Corberan speaks out

Karlan Grant still has a part to play at West Brom despite being sent on loan to Cardiff City for the season after Carlos Corberan claimed the club would reevaluate his position in the summer.

The boss suggested that when Grant arrived for pre-season training, he showed a desire to rediscover his best level, and the decision was made to allow him to do that away from The Hawthorns.

Now, though, Grant is among a number of on-loan Albion players that Corberan says will still be a part of his plans as long as they are under contract.

Speaking to the Express & Star on 14 November, Corberan shared: "It's impossible to close doors on players who are a part of this club. They still have contracts - Grant has two years more from next summer.

"Grant is playing every single minute, and I'm pleased. He's not been changed. In the last games, he hasn't been a player the coach has been using to change. This is important when they're playing every single minute - it means the coach believes in him and because he deserves this.

"With Grant, I'd say, before he went for the loan, that the way he came to pre-season I was thinking that this is a player who wanted to recover his level and we considered that the best way for him to rediscover his level was to move him from here.

"After, in the summer, in the right moment, we will re-evaluate the situation."

Not exactly flying

While Corberan is right, it's a good sign that Grant is playing practically every minute for his loan club as he has made himself an important part of the team in South Wales, his form hasn't exactly been scintillating.

One goal from 17 games in all competitions so far this season is made no less impressive even when adding his two assists, and the fact he is playing regular football makes this tally look even worse.

At a time when West Brom are in need of a clinical striker, it's difficult to say Grant would improve this side. When pushing for the playoffs with the ultimate goal of promotion in mind, the club need to evaluate whether these players would help them achieve that goal.

Alongside Grant, the boss named Jamie Andrews and Jovan Malcolm as players who will be assessed upon their return, but there remains the possibility that the current Cardiff striker will be allowed to leave once more if his goalscoring form doesn't pick up.
