Aston Villa are looking to add more quality to their forward department, and they retain "concrete" interest in Hoffenheim striker Maximilian Beier.

According to Sky Germany journalist, Florian Plettenberg, Villa has made contact with the German club about singing the 21-year-old "top striker" in recent days.

Beier is currently with the Germany national squad participating in the Euro 2024 Championships.

The young striker has a release clause of around PS25 million (EUR30m), but he is expected to cost more if signing fees are added. The player is currently focused on the Euros, and he will probably consider his future options once he returns from international duty.

Aston Villa look to bolster forward department The Villans relied heavily on Ollie Watkins last season. The England striker enjoyed arguably his best season at the club, scoring 19 goals and providing 13 assists in the Premier League.

However, Unai Emery needs someone who can complement him and compete for a regular starting spot. Jhon Duran is a talented striker but he did not perform consistently enough last season.

There is a high chance that the 20-year-old could be sold in the summer with Premier League rivals Chelsea in the hunt to take him to Stamford Bridge.

Villa have signed Everton forward Lewis Dobbin, but more quality is needed. Beier progressed through the youth ranks at Hoffenheim and has scored 18 goals in the Bundesliga, with 16 of them coming in last season alone.

The talented striker also impressed during his loan spell at Hannover where he scored 15 goals in two seasons. The striker probably would love to continue at Hoffenheim where he has a contract until 2027, but a move to Aston Villa cannot be ruled out either.

He will get to play in the Champions League next season should he make the move to Villa Park, and Villa probably shouldn't mind spending the amount for him, provided it doesn't breach their financial limit.
