Aston Villa have joined the race to sign Joao Felix in the summer transfer window.

The Villans handled the threat of PSR comfortably by selling Douglas Luiz and Tim Iroegbunam to Juventus and Everton respectively.

They have also signed Lewis Dobbin, Ian Maatsen, and Ross Barkley, while Enzo Barrenechea and Samuel Iling-Junior joined as part of the deal for Luiz from Juventus.

Now, Villa have turned their attention towards signing Portugal attacking midfielder Joao Felix who spent the last season on loan at Barcelona from Atletico Madrid.

Atletico signed Felix from Benfica for a reported fee of PS113 million in the summer of 2019. He has made 130 appearances for the Rojiblancos, scoring 34 goals, but he doesn't feature in Diego Simeone's plans.

Last season he scored 10 goals in 44 games for the Blaugrana, and Barcelona want to sign him again, but they need to first solve their financial problems.

According to a report from Sport, Villa have joined the race to sign the 40-times capped Portugal international.

The Spanish publication reported online on 4 July that Villa boss Unai Emery is convinced that Felix is the right signing for Villa. The Spaniard thinks he can get the "best version" out of Felix, who has failed to reach the dizzy heights everyone expects him to.

His loan spell at Chelsea did not work as per expectations, but Villa are willing to take the risk.

Villa sporting director Monchi and his assistant, Damia Vidagany, both feel that Felix would be a hit at Villa Park, and they have the financial muscle to carry out an operation like this.

Felix will not be short on offers in the summer, and Villa have already done their homework regarding meeting his salary cap.

Villa will play in the Champions League next season, and Emery will need quality players in attacking areas. Felix would be a terrific signing for the club if Emery can get the best out of him.
