England team 'leaked' as Gareth Southgate answers two big questions for Spain
Source: Birmingham Live

England manager Gareth Southgate is reportedly set to make no changes to the starting XI which faced the Netherlands for tonight's Euro 2024 final against Spain.

It means Ollie Watkins will start from the bench despite him coming on late and scoring a 90th minute winner to send the Three Lions to Berlin. The Aston Villa forward linked up with fellow substitute Cole Palmer to fire England into a 2-1 lead with only a minute of the game remaining.

According to multiple media outlets, including The Telegraph, the Villa forward will likely start from the bench again. Chelsea's Palmer, who assisted Watkins' goal with a clever through ball, is also expected to be left out of the starting line-up.

Despite proving his fitness, Luke Shaw is set to miss out on a starting spot as well. Calls have been made for Southgate to drop Harry Kane, who despite being in contention for the Euro 2024 golden boot with three goals in six games, has had a series of underwhelming performances leading the England attack, reports the Express.

Watkins has openly expressed his disappointment at being relegated to the bench, despite an impressive tally of 19 goals and 13 assists in the Premier League.

He said: "Recently, I have obviously got a bit frustrated. I don't like to be on the bench, I have had the best season of my career.

"A few friends messaged me and said 'be patient', and the amount of people who messaged me tonight (before the semi-final) saying I would score when I come on was ridiculous. Hopefully they can do the same for the final or give me the lottery numbers."

Expected England XI: Pickford, Walker, Stones, Guehi, Saka, Mainoo, Rice, Trippier, Foden, Bellingham, Kane.
