Ollie Watkins has confirmed his engagement to girlfriend Ellie Alderson after proposing in Italy on Monday.

The England striker, 28, has been in a relationship with interior designer Ellie, also 28, since 2018 and she took to social media to reveal they are set to tie the knot.

She told Instagram followers: 'Special night in lake como with my fiance... ahhhh sooo happy.' [sic]

Ellie shared the happy news alongside a series of romantic snaps from their trip to Lake Como in Italy, a getaway that comes after England's heartbreak in the Euros.

In the first black-and-white picture, Ollie was down on one knee to Ellie, both of them having opted for crisp white outfits.

In the second snap, the couple looked every bit in love as Ellie cradled her now-fiance and stroked his face as she leant in for a kiss.

The couple were spotted on Monday following the announcement. They walked hand-in-hand in Milan as they made the most of their romantic getaway.

They welcomed their first child, Amara in September 2021, and and their second, son Marley, in April last year.

The couple first got together in 2018 and have seen their romance blossom ever since, in-line with Ollie's rise to becoming one of the Premier League's most clinical goalscorers.

They live together in Birmingham and are now set to tie the knot at what will likely be a glitzy wedding ceremony.

Club and international team-mates of the England star were quick to congratulate Watkins and Alderson as they broke the news of their engagement to the world via social media.

Thrifty Ellie appears to also have a Depop account where she has sold items from her glamorous collection.

The WAG has constantly been supportive for her footballer beau with game appearances and social media posts.

After late substitute Ollie , who scored with just seconds remaining, sent the Three Lions into Sunday's final against Spain in Berlin - he celebrated his historic win by sharing a kiss with Ellie.

Shortly after scoring the winning goal, Ollie explained how he had 'manifested' the victory into a reality.

During a press conference, he explained: 'I knew when I went onto the pitch that I would score, I manifested it. I'm not shocked.

'You just go onto the next thing, you know we were back on the bus playing Uno on the way back to base camp ready for training and recovery the next day'.
