Major injury blow for Tottenham as key first-team player leaves pitch in tears ahead of Villa game
Source:Spurs News

Tottenham bagged a massive 2-1 win over Manchester City, knocking them out of the League Cup to advance to the final 8 of the tournament.

Timo Werner scored the opener in the first 5 minutes of the game, finishing off a lovely counter to give his side the lead.

And Pape Matar Sarr doubled the advantage 20 minutes later with a stunning long-range strike.

Matheus Nunes pulled one back right before half-time to bring City back into the game. However, Tottenham did well to hold on to their lead in the second half to win the game 2-1.

In fact, it was Spurs who had the better chances in the second half as well, and could have easily scored a couple more if not for Werner's miss and the heroic goalkeeping from the City goalkeeper.

Win for Tottenham but not without injuries Despite the massive win, the game did not come without a few negatives for Ange. They suffered several injuries, including a first-half injury to star defender Micky van de Ven.

The Dutch defender suffered a hamstring injury which forced him off early in the game. The injury did not look good as he left the pitch in tears.
