We're delighted to welcome former Aston Villa full-back Alan Hutton as our exclusive columnist. Each week he'll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Villa Park...

Unai Emery will not quit Aston Villa to join Manchester United if they try to hire him, according to Alan Hutton.

Erik ten Hag is under increasing pressure at Old Trafford, leading to speculation linking the Spaniard to the potential future vacancy at Old Trafford.

On 31 October, talkSPORT host Andy Goldstein said Emery would "100 per cent" quit Villa Park for Man United, something which Darren Bent disagreed with.

Hutton is on the same wavelength as his former Aston Villa and Tottenham teammate Bent, claiming that Emery's in a very good place at B6 right now and that he wouldn't want to risk ruining that for the poisoned chalice at Old Trafford.

When asked by Villa News if Emery would jump on a club like Manchester United, Hutton said: "I don't think so. I think he's there for the long term.

"He's building something and all his plans are in place. He understands what it takes to move this club forward because that's what it needed. It was in a difficult period when he came in and he very quickly turned it around.

"I don't think he'll be that guy to jump ship and you look at the situation Man United's in, it's very difficult. It's a huge club but if he was to go in there and it didn't go well and didn't hit the ground running, he's going to get sacked there and where does he move on to? You saw what happened at Arsenal.

"At this moment in time, he's very happy, the players have all brought in to what he wants so why would you leave a club on the up to join - yes, they are a big club - but they're a club in a difficult situation."

Ahead of their Premier League clash with Nottingham Forest on Sunday (5 November), Aston Villa are fifth in the standings - four points ahead of Man United in eighth.

If they win on Sunday, they could at least temporarily go up to third - two points behind leaders Manchester City - position due to Arsenal's defeat to Newcastle on Saturday (4 November) and also with the fact Liverpool are yet to play Luton.

In other Aston Villa news, a PS50million transfer claim has been made about Douglas Luiz amid recent speculation.
