Aston Villa returned to winning ways in the Premier League with a 3-1 victory at home to Fulham on Sunday (12 November).

Unai Emery's men won the encounter at Villa Park after losing their last league match 2-0 at Nottingham Forest last Sunday (5 November).

But their home fortress proved too difficult to get past for the Cottagers, with Villa captain John McGinn inspiring his side to an important three points.

The Scotland international scored Villa's second goal of the match after Fulham defender Antonee Robinson scored an own goal.

The pundit told the official Premier League website (13 November): "A fantastic goal and another top performance from Villa's captain.

"It really was another superb all-round display from a player that is so important for Emery and the club's ambitions this season, both in the Premier League and in the Europa Conference League.

McGinn will now look to continue his club form for the Scotland national team, having been called up by manager Steve Clarke for the upcoming Euro 2024 qualifiers against Georgia and Norway.
