Fabrizio Romano says there is nothing 'concrete or advanced' regarding Leeds United's interest in Barnsley youngster Fabio Jalo.

Romano was speaking in his latest daily briefing, where he claimed reports linking Leeds and a host of Premier League clubs are accurate, but at this point it is just 'normal scouting'.

According to TeamTalk, Premier League trio Brighton & Hove Albion, Everton and Fulham are all keeping tabs on Jalo's situation, with his contract at Barnsley set to expire in the summer.

It is said that both Leeds and Sunderland also hold a 'real interest' in the 17-year-old ahead of the January window, who has made 15 senior appearances for Barnsley.

Jalo has scored three goals for the League One outfit in that time, including a screamer in Barnsley's 3-3 draw with Horsham in the FA Cup last Friday.

Romano shares update on Leeds interest in Jalo Romano is expecting interest to become a little more concrete over December and January, but at the moment, insists links with Leeds are merely just 'normal scouting' at the moment.

He said: "A good talent, still only 17 years old, impressing at Barnsley this season. There have been links with Leeds United and some Premier League clubs, but honestly I'm not aware of any concrete or advanced negotiations so far - just normal scouting. I expect that to be decided in a more clear way between December and January."

This is the type of player Leeds should be looking to target over the coming months as their U21s side is currently in a difficult position.

Many of the current U21s squad have either just progressed from the U18s, or are in need of a loan to go out and play senior football. If that happens in January, it will only make them weaker.

It will be interesting to see if Leeds are able to fend off interest from Premier League clubs in order to win the race for Jalo's signature, if indeed they do make a concrete bid.
