‘Against a top six rival’: Derby County star issues ‘convincing’ claim after beating Barnsley

Derby County star Craig Forsyth has said that the Rams were 'convincing' in the 3-0 win over Barnsley on Saturday afternoon.

James Collins gave Derby the lead in the 35th minute, smashing a penalty down the middle giving the Rams the lead going into half-time.

Forsyth then added a second three minutes into the second half, with the Rams cruising.

The left-back then went to add his second with a powerful shot from the left hand side, but the goalkeeper parried it in the air.

However, Collins was there to chest the ball in from very close range to seal another victory and clean sheet, in what was and all-round good day at Pride Park.

"It was very good all round. It was important to put on a performance at home against a top six rival and it was a good and convincing win for us and a clean sheet too.

"We've been building the home form. We didn't start well this year at Pride Park but we've put a good few results together and we're hoping to continue that. Today was a good performance."

Derby now starting to put away their chances Forsyth is correct in saying it was convincing. Barnsley never looked like testing Joe Wildsmith in goal once, only having one shot on target throughout the entire match.

Derby were also clinical going forward too, scoring three out of their six shots on target.

After a patch of form where Paul Warne's side never looked like scoring many goals at all despite the huge number of chances they created, this now does not seem to be a problem.

They have now scored 13 goals in their last four games in all competitions, keeping two clean sheets in that time - both in League One.

The win on Saturday has left them in seventh position, just outside the playoffs on goals scored behind the Tykes.

They will now have to focus on the FA Cup for now though, with the first round replay against Crewe Alexandra on Tuesday night.
