This Tuesday night, Newport welcome Colchester United to Rodney Parade. We've taken a dip into our archives to find a classic win against the U's.

The 2020/21 season is one that will live long in Newport fan's memories for a number of reasons. Of course, it is one of the most unique seasons in history, with every single league game at Rodney Parade being played in front of no fans, including our game against Colchester on Tuesday, October 28th.

While there were no fans inside the ground, the team were still able to produce some magic on the pitch, spurred on by fans all over Newport glued to iFollow.

Newport started the game sitting at the top of League Two after an electrifying start to the campaign that had seen us win six, draw one, and lose one. Colchester had struggled to find form in the opening eight, sitting in mid-table.

Newport stuck to the form table, grabbing the opening goal in the 51st minute. Scott Twine, who had previously rattled the bar with a thunderous free-kick, danced around the Colchester defence and delivered a trademark long-distance strike past the outstretched arms of veteran keeper Dean Gerken.

Colchester looked to have denied us a fourth straight win right at the death. A shot from Kwame Poku rebounded into the path of Devani Brown, with the striker gratefully tapping into an open net in the 89th minute.

County were not in the mood to let this one slip, though, and in the final minute, an inswinging corner was headed down to Padraig Amond, who poked home to give us all three points and spark scenes of celebration in living rooms all across the city of Newport.
