Nathan Collins appeared to be involved in a heated altercation with his own teammate after Brentford's 3-3 draw with Aston Villa on Saturday.
England striker Ivan Toney, who drew a blank as the Bees conceded a late equaliser, was spotted shouting at the defender after the final whistle. Collins returned fire before the pair turned away from one another in disgust.
At one point, Toney held three fingers up on both hands as if he was reminding Collins how many goals Brentford had conceded, though the precise nature of the disagreement is unclear, reports The Daily Star.
Fans leaped onto social media after a clip of the spat did the rounds online, and appeared divided over the situation. One X user said: "What is Ivan Toney moaning about? Not like he got on the scoresheet today."
Another, however, said: "Think he's got every right to be annoyed at the defence but singling out Collins isn't fair imo." One other added: "Can understand Toney's frustration. Defence was poor today."
It was a day of mixed emotions for Brentford, who found themselves 2-0 down after just 46 minutes, with Toney's England rival Ollie Watkins nabbing the opener and Morgan Rogers doubling Villa's lead just after half time.
But a second half comeback from the visitors flipped the script, with three goals in nine minutes from Mathias Jorgensen, Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa putting Brentford in front. Though a late Watkins goal ensured the spoils were shared.
The result leaves Thomas Frank's side just four points above the relegation zone following 18th-placed Luton's win over Bournemouth. Villa, meanwhile, are now three points ahead of fifth-placed Tottenham, though the north Londoners have two games in hand on Unai Emery's men.
