Brentford are crowned Capital Cup champions after a 4-0 win over Leatherhead at Meadowbank Stadium on Sunday afternoon. Brentford put on an excellent first half showing with Chloe Logie striking twice and Maddie Phillips firing from long range giving the Bees a healthy three goal lead at the break. A late second half goal from substitute Lucy Bolitho wrapped up a perfect day for the Bees who claimed they first piece of silver wear of the season. Karleigh Osborne's side were looking to bounce back in the best possible way following last weekend's draw to Sport London E Benfica which ended Brentford's promotion hopes.

The Bees got off to the perfect start getting an early goal after Logie finished off and excellent run and assist from Nikki Woods.

The winger beat two players on the left flank before cutting the ball back to the striker who tapped the ball home into an empty net.

Woods looked in exceptional form and clearly had the beating of Leatherhead's right back in the opening stages.

The winger nearly doubled Brentford's lead just two minutes after the opener but her shot was right at Lara Burrows.

It was all Brentford and the side made it 2-0 just 10 minutes in through an unbelievable strike from Phillips.

The right-back picked up the ball deep inside Brentford's half before driving forward and unleashing a powerful shot from 25 yards which flew past Burrows.

Leatherhead grew into the game and had their first decent chance of the match just before the half hour mark when Megan Button found space for a shot, but her effort was saved well by Evie Witek.

Brentford continued to work the ball forward as the side attempted to put the game to bed in the opening half.

Logie added to her incredible goal tally for the season and put the Bees three goals ahead five minutes before the break.

A clearance from Phillips fell into the path of the forward who pushed the ball in front of her allowing space for Logie to strike home.

Leatherhead made a good start to the second half as the side looked to get themselves back in the game, but Brentford's front line always remained a threat and their defence was just as strong.

Woods came agonisingly close to getting Brentford's fourth of the match just after the hour mark when her strike from distance flashed inches over the bar.

Logie was on the hunt for her hat-trick and could have got it when an Ellen Wardlaw cut back pass found the number nine, but her shot was saved well by Burrows.

The introduction of Jodie Reid and Wardlaw proved to be positive ones as the pair added solidarity to Brentford's midfield, as well as Lucy Bolitho who sealed the win for Brentford with a neat left footed finish.

The Bees were rewarded for what was a superb first half performance as the side claimed the Capital Cup with a strong performance over Leatherhead.
