Source:Sportbible

Trey Nyoni has been named on Liverpool's bench to take on Brentford this afternoon at the age of just 16 - but who is the Reds starlet?

Liverpool supporters will have been surprised to see a new name on the bench for today's encounter, with Jurgen Klopp deciding to hand an opportunity to another bright academy talent.

Nyoni has been at the club for a matter of months, having signed for the Reds from Leicester in September.

But who is the youngster, and what can Reds fans expect?

As mentioned, Nyoni was brought to the Reds academy setup in September, signing from Championship side Leicester.

As per Liverpool's official website, the 16-year-old, who is an attacking midfielder by trade, spent 10 years with the Foxes before making the move north.

He is also an England U16 international, and has regularly represented Liverpool's U18 side this season.

But he was handed a promotion to the U21 side earlier this month, playing 81 minutes in their 2-1 defeat to League Two side Barrow in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy.

Nyoni has three goals and two assists to his name in four U18 Premier League matches this term, and has clearly done enough to catch the eye of Klopp and his coaching staff.

He was born in June 2007 - one month after the Reds lost to AC Milan in the Champions League final in Athens.

Nyoni trained with Liverpool's first team ahead of their Europa League victory over Toulouse last month, but cannot play in that competition because, as per squad registration rules, he hasn't spent the required two years at Anfield to qualify for a spot on the B list.

There are no such problems in the Premier League, though - and the 16-year-old could make a surprise debut in front of the Anfield faithful against Brentford today.
