Maidenhead United Women's reward for Sunday's victory over Sutton United Women is a trip to either Southampton Women or Brentford Women in the second round of the competition.

The draw for the second-round proper was made this afternoon (Monday) with the 28 ties to be played on Sunday, November 26.

After the first-round action across the country this weekend, winning clubs were entered into the hat for the next stage and, should they prevail again, they'll pick up PS8,000 from the FA's Prize Fund. Losing teams are set to net PS2,000.

The Magpies have reached this stage of the competition for the first time in their history, having fallen at the first-round stage to higher-level opponents on five occasions.

They had to show real character to bounce back at Sutton, having fallen 2-0 behind in the first half before staging an impressive fightback with goals from Simone O'Brien, Nat Cowell, Imogen Fisher - with a top corner rocket - and substitute Macey-Nikiah Walters, who scored with her first touch after coming on in the second half of extra-time.

Speaking to Neil Maskell after the final whistle, Maidenhead's match-winner Macey-Nikiah said: "It was very good to come on and have an impact.

"The game was very eventful the whole way through. We went from drawing, to winning to losing, so to come on and score, even the celebration was amazing. It was crazy, it meant everything to everyone."

Maidenhead's potential opponents in the next round, Southampton Women and Brentford, saw their first-round tie at the weekend postponed.

Brentford play in the London & South East Premier 1 North while Southampton Women are league rivals with Maidenhead in the FA Women's National League Division 1 South West.
