Fulham star Joao Palhinha has shared further insight into Sporting CP coach Ruben Amorim, with a comparison to Brighton's Roberto De Zerbi.

The 28-year-old played 87 games under Amorim in Portugal during his time with Braga. Amorim is now regarded as the main candidate to succeed Jurgen Klopp in the summer after a move for Xabi Alonso didn't materialise.

The former Reds midfielder ruled himself out of the forthcoming vacancy at Anfield by announcing he would stay at Bayer Leverkusen for at least another season. With that said, Liverpool ECHO has taken a look at what Palhinha has had to say...

On the prospect of coaching Liverpool: "If he does get appointed by Liverpool, I have no doubts that people will like his personality. I believe he is a great option to replace Jurgen Klopp but we don't know if that will happen. Either way, he's going to make a huge step in his career at some point.

"You cannot compare Sporting with a world-class side like Liverpool but there is also great pressure on a manager who is expected to fight for titles in Portugal and he's used to dealing with that."

The way which Amorim likes to play: "He likes to play with three defenders and have ball possession. At Braga, he didn't change that, not even when we would lose.

"He always kept the same game idea and if I had to compare his style of play to another team, I'd say Bayern Leverkusen this season, because of the way they are determined and keep the ball. If Amorim does go to Liverpool, it will be a new challenge but players are adaptable and his methods are good."

Can you pick out any similarities to another manager in the Premier League? "It's difficult to choose a manager that he is similar to because I've only been coached by Marco Silva here. But I think it's probably Roberto De Zerbi because of his style of football."
