Manchester United make big £86m transfer 'approach' as Mason Greenwood emerges on Napoli radar

Manchester United have just two games of their season remaining but could still end the campaign on a high note. Erik ten Hag's side go to Brighton on Sunday with faint hope of qualifying for the Europa Conference League, while next weekend's trip to Wembley could see them win the FA Cup - although they will have to beat Manchester City to do so.

There is increasing speculation around the future of Ten Hag and the next week or so could prove decisive ahead of what looks set to be another busy and expensive transfer window. In the meantime, ManchesterWorld has some of the latest stories to come out of Old Trafford.

Silva 'approach'United have reportedly made an initial approach to sign Antonio Silva from Benfica. TEAMtalk reports that the defender may have already played his final game for the Portuguese outfit after contact was made between Reds chiefs and the player's representatives.

Silva has long been linked with a move to a top European club amid what has been an outstanding couple of years for the centre-back. Despite still being just 20-years-old, Silva has enjoyed two full seasons as a regular starter with Champions League and international experience.

Previous reports have suggested that United could prioritise a double-swoop for Silva and his Benfica teammate, midfielder Joao Neves, with both valued at around EUR100million (PS86m). Central defence will be a key area to strengthen this summer, with Raphael Varane and Jonny Evans set to leave once their contracts expire.

Greenwood eyedNapoli are the latest team to emerge as potential suitors for United forward Mason Greenwood. Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport reports that the Serie A outfit are keen on a move for the forward but could face competition from Juventus.

Getafe are also keen to keep Greenwood permanently but face stiff competition. Previous reports have also named their La Liga rivals, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid, as potential destinations for the United academy graduate.
